Maria Carreón Ayers is the principal and founder of Carreón Consulting LLC. Maria is a seasoned professional with over 18 years of experience and in-depth knowledge of federal requirements, best practices, strategic planning, development, and implementation of culturally and linguistically appropriate approaches that focus on improving equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts through proven and measurable systems transformation across various health and government sectors. Carreón Consulting specializes in addressing language and cultural barriers by developing sustainable solutions to help organizations better serve diverse communities through equitable and inclusive systems change. As a former public servant, she created the first Language Services Program at the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment and expanded access to over-the-phone interpretation services across Colorado through the Department of Personnel & Administration’s NASPO agreement. Maria’s work as a Bridging The Gap certified interpreter keeps her close to the community and helps inform all areas of her work. The forefront of Maria’s work focuses on addressing and advancing the CLAS standards by providing training and technical assistance to local and state agencies, such as the Office of Behavioral Health, as well as regional partners and multidisciplinary advisory groups.
